Services

Society for Equal Access provides transportation services to individuals with disabilities who live in Tuscarawas county and need transportation to medical appointments. Individuals can be transported to medical appointments at medical facilities within a 150 mile (300 mile round trip) radius of Tuscarawas County.

S.E.A. contracts with the Department of Job and Family Services (JFS), Area Agency on Aging (Passport), Tuscarawas County Veteran's Administration, Tuscarawas County Even Start, and the Village Network / Star Alternative. These agencies pay transportation fees for those who qualify for their services. A sliding fee scale is available to individuals who do not qualify for fee paid services from the agencies listed above.

S.E.A. has various types of vehicles to fit special needs. Passenger cars and mini vans are used for individuals who do not have a mobility impairment. Full sized vans with lifts are available for scooters, oversized wheelchairs and power chairs. Mini vans, equipped with ramps are available for manual wheelchairs and small power chairs.

Rick Domer

S.E.A. was recently named the Lead Agency to meet the
urgent needs for transportation in Tuscarawas County. The Ohio
Department of Transportation has issued a six-month grant to the
Tuscarawas County Commissioners to pay for this program. Rick
Domer is the Mobility Manager and has a designated telephone line
to receive phone calls from local businesses in the area as well as
calls from people with disabilities, low-income families, the elderly
and the general public who may need transportation to work or other
appointments. The TuscoBus Transit Advisory Committee along with
the Tuscarawas County Commissioners oversees the program and
reporting is given to them on a regular basis of how many people are
utilizing the service. Mr. Domer is also responsible for coordinating
services with two other coordinating agencies (Tuscarawas County
Senior Center and Horizons, Inc.) to assist S.E.A. when their vehicles
are too full to transport one of these contract individuals.
